About this opportunity
Chick-A-Dee Food Bar has been a beloved staple in the Mackay community for over 30 years. Conveniently situated on one of Mackay’s busiest main roads and surrounded by motels, it caters to a diverse clientele, including residents of South Mackay and a steady stream of workers, tradies, and passers-by who return for its friendly service and high-quality food. With its strong local presence and exciting growth potential, this business is perfectly positioned for a new owner ready to take it to the next level.
Business Story
This well-established business in its high exposure location has much to offer, the shop is fully equipped with no further investment required once the business has changed hands.
Although Chick-A-Dee Gourmet Food Bar has been operated by its current owners for over 25 years, there are significant growth opportunities available. First, enhancing marketing efforts is crucial; while the business has a website that needs updating, it currently lacks any social media presence. Additionally, expanding into catering could substantially boost turnover for a business already generating $1.2 million per year.
With 25 years in business, Chick-A-Dee Gourmet Food Bar has established a solid foundation, now offered for sale as the current owners seek retirement. While they have reduced their involvement to just 20 hours per week, they are motivated to pass the torch, leaving behind a legacy that a new owner can build upon and capitalize on.
After the business becomes yours, the current owners will gladly give you a generous period of tuition to ensure you are accustomed to running the business when the time comes. The tuition will run you through everything you need to know behind the scenes and allow the business run optimally for your takeover.

Phil started his working career in purchasing with large and multi-national companies in Sydney.
A family relocation to Bowen in 1974 was the catalyst to owning his own business.
Phil has been in various businesses from Pest Control to Delicatessen/Takeaway and has for the last 39 years built a wholesale business that has served Bowen, Whitsundays, Mackay and the Coalfields, from 1 truck and himself to 6 trucks and 15 employees.
This has given Phil a very solid knowledge of the area from Bowen to Rockhampton and what it takes to thrive in business there.
Phil has a strong knowledge of business and business practices built through the process of growing his own business as well as time spent on State Franchise Council and dealing with the many changing government policies in those 39 years.
The process of selling his own business has shown Phil the real need for a locally based business broker, easily contacted and heavily focused on the Central Queensland area, which has led to his involvement in CQ Business Brokers.
