About this opportunity
Imagine owning a thriving business in the heart of the Whitsundays, providing essential services that keep the region's economy flowing. Think Water Whitsunday represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-established, locally respected business in one of Australia's most desirable lifestyle locations, where professional success and personal fulfillment converge in perfect harmony.
Strategically positioned in Proserpine, Think Water Whitsunday sits at the crossroads of opportunity in tropical North Queensland. The gateway to the world-famous Whitsunday Islands and mere minutes from the tourist haven of Airlie Beach. But beyond the postcard-perfect beaches and resort lifestyle lies a robust and diverse economy built on agriculture, tourism, and massive ongoing development. The region's primary crop, sugar cane, has sustained generations of farmers, and with recent diversification into rice cultivation, the demand for sophisticated water management solutions has never been stronger. Think Water Whitsunday has positioned itself as the indispensable partner for anyone who needs water moved efficiently and reliably.
What sets Think Water Whitsunday apart is its comprehensive, end-to-end service model that eliminates the frustration of dealing with multiple contractors. As a true one-stop shop, the business handles everything from initial consultation and custom design through to supply, professional installation, ongoing maintenance, and long-term after-sales support.
Business Story

Think Water Whitsunday delivers total solutions. This turnkey approach means clients develop lasting relationships with one trusted provider rather than navigating a fragmented marketplace, creating exceptional customer retention and recurring revenue streams that form the bedrock of the business's financial stability. Think Water Whitsunday is nothing short of impressive. The team comprises genuine specialists in water management who understand the unique challenges of tropical agriculture, the demands of commercial enterprises, and the complexities of residential and industrial applications. From designing systems that maximize efficiency while minimising energy costs, to troubleshooting problems that have stumped others, to recommending the perfect pump configuration for specific soil types and water sources. This technical credibility, combined with the backing of the respected Think Water national brand, creates a market position that new competitors find extraordinarily difficult to replicate. Located on a prominent highway position with high visibility, the facility serves as a constant reminder to passing motorists, farmers, contractors, and developers of where to turn when water management needs arise. In regional markets, this type of prime real estate positioning is invaluable for building brand awareness and capturing spontaneous customer visits. For an incoming owner, this groundwork has already been laid; the hard work of building physical infrastructure and market awareness has been completed, allowing you to step into an operational business from day one. Think Water Whitsunday operates in a market with limited direct competition. While there may be occasional plumbers or pump suppliers touching the edges of the market, few if any competitors offer the same breadth of expertise, product range, installation capabilities, and ongoing support across all the sectors this business serves. This market positioning creates pricing power and customer loyalty that translates directly to healthy margins.
Essential services businesses that solve critical problems enjoy natural resilience against economic fluctuations, and in agriculture-dependent regions, water infrastructure isn't optional; it's the foundation upon which everything else depends. Crops must be irrigated, stock must be watered, and facilities must function regardless of broader economic conditions. This turnkey acquisition offers the chance to become an integral part of a tight-knit community where your work directly impacts the livelihoods of farmers, the operations of local businesses, and the quality of life for residents. It offers the professional satisfaction of running a respected business where technical expertise solves real problems and where long-term customer relationships are built on trust and results. And it offers the security of operating under the Think Water banner, with access to national buying power, proven systems, ongoing support, and the credibility of an established Australian brand. Prospective buyers can benefit from the experienced sellers offer to remain in the business satisfying the loyal client base whilst preparing for a lengthy transition to retirement. Phil started his working career in purchasing with large and multi-national companies in Sydney.
A family relocation to Bowen in 1974 was the catalyst to owning his own business.
Phil has been in various businesses from Pest Control to Delicatessen/Takeaway and has for the last 39 years built a wholesale business that has served Bowen, Whitsundays, Mackay and the Coalfields, from 1 truck and himself to 6 trucks and 15 employees.
This has given Phil a very solid knowledge of the area from Bowen to Rockhampton and what it takes to thrive in business there.
Phil has a strong knowledge of business and business practices built through the process of growing his own business as well as time spent on State Franchise Council and dealing with the many changing government policies in those 39 years.
The process of selling his own business has shown Phil the real need for a locally based business broker, easily contacted and heavily focused on the Central Queensland area, which has led to his involvement in CQ Business Brokers.
